Over 70 U.S. Representatives signed a “Dear Colleague” letter urging robust FY2019 funding for the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) and Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) programs. This is a significant increase in support from last year’s letter, which was signed by 42 U.S. Representatives.

The FY2019 letter was spearheaded by U.S. Representatives Danny Davis (D-IL), David Reichert (R-WA), John Yarmuth (D-KY), and Jeff Denham (R-CA).  Read the letter to see if your U.S. Representative signed.

If your Member of Congress did sign the letter, please send a note of thanks. If your Member of Congress did not sign the letter, please consider setting up a meeting with him or her during the upcoming Congressional recess, from March 23-April 9. While the FY2019 budget process is well underway, FY2018 funding levels have not been finalized. Congress is expected to consider a $1.3 trillion spending bill this week to wrap up the FY2018 budget. The current continuing resolution expires this Friday, March 23rd.  It is unclear if Congress will be able to pass the omnibus spending legislation, or if another extension will be considered.
